Promoting 3d photos to share across the net. I myself have been experimenting with 3d photos, they are awesome but not for the wall. Not everyone walking through my house will grab a set of glasses at the front door. This year, we will see a wide range of cameras that can shoot in 3d mode.

News is moving to a new home!
Friday, February 1st, 2008I found a great place to host my .i.T.News. The HoW2WiKi! I love the content management system they have that organizes news articles. The .i.T.LIFe BLOG will no longer be the home of any News related items. I have no intentions of running a news related site, but I need a place where I can have my news articles. I know a blog seems like a great place, but this is already crowded with other information. From now on please visit the HoW2WiKi for all .i.T.News that I feel like discussing. I’ll even copy over the existing news content from the .i.T.LIFe BLOG into HoW2WiKi.

SKYPE Hacked! excution code bug discovered!
Monday, January 21st, 2008Hello everyone, this is another perfect example of a company releasing a premature product. A bunch of people who are known by the name of researchers, found a bug in the SKYPE software that would allow you to execute code through the search command. I think it’s a beautiful way to remotely launch programs. A lot of people release software in Beta form. Hoping, the beta testers will discover any bugs and report them. These bugs will then be fixed in an updated product or with service packs (think about Microsoft service packs). The only problem is, some companies release products to the end users with flaws (hoping that no major flaw still exists, will be discovered or will be used). We can only assume that SKYPE didn’t know about this little loop hole in their software and they allowed it to be used publicly. If this were true, then which developer on their team knew about this and used it to their advantage?
Anyway, I gotta run but you can read up all about it at:
Special thanks to eweek security watch for letting us know what’s going on in the world of SKYPE.
Software Theft.
Thursday, January 10th, 2008This is a very important topic folks. Property theft is very easy to do. A lot of people do it and don’t care about the matter until they are either caught, or it’s their property that’s stolen. I’ve read a lot of research and as I apply my thoughts with it, I agree that mainly the younger generation don’t think it’s a crime. If you google the topic, you will come across a lot of items to study. If you are smart enough to hack, crack or break anyone’s code… to illegally distribute and use their software, then you are smart enough to do the right thing. If you can’t afford Microsoft Office, use Open office. Even if you can’t afford a Microsoft Operating System, use a Linux or Unix based Operating System.
Ok, I know there’s a fine line as to what is considered stolen or not. Let’s say I bought a dual core Dell PC and it came with an OEM version of Vista 32 bit. A few months later I build a new quad core machine and decide to use my OEM Vista 32 bit on my new rig. That is considered theft. I have to buy another copy of Vista/license or use Linux. I wanted to briefly talk about this topic because Baselinemag.com has a little site of some companies that were caught stealing Software by the Business Software Alliance . Please read about it at:

I don’t know how long the link will last, but I’m sure you can search for it through baseline’s main page.
TGTBT, Intel marches forward, on it’s own.
Friday, January 4th, 2008TGTBT = To good to be true. This regards Intel’s recent decision to move on from the partnership it endured to bring low cost laptops to children of the world. Let’s face it, it’s all about money and I’m not going to woe Intel’s decision; I’ll respect it. I’ve learned from someone today, who has learned from another source, that Intel has left the One Laptop Per Child program. You can read about the One Laptop Per Child program at http://www.laptop.org/ . From what I’ve read, they made it seem like Intel was the bad guy for abandoning the cause. But, what was noted at the end of the document was, Intel believe’s in an open market. There are always multiple answers to questions. So why not have multiple solutions to this issue.
If I didn’t have enough interest to read the entire article, I would have not seen those particular words. My personal thought’s about Intel would have changed. Anyway, there’s a price on these laptops. They are not donated and even though they should be selling for $100 USD, I believe they will be offered at $188.00 USD. This reminds me of the Asus eee laptop. I want one and it was scheduled for a $200.00 USD release. It has been released and I’ve seen it for sale at $400. USD and more. How does this the Asus and Intel situation relate to my “it’s all about the money” comment?
It appears Intel hasn’t given up on the overall decision of the cause. But they will add more solutions to the cause. What will the price for each laptop be from Intel’s solution? I guess we’ll have to wait and see what they release. At least for now, we know the $100.00 USD One Laptop Per Child, is selling at an average of $188.00 USD and Intel pulled out of the team to spearhead their own innovative, One Child Per Laptop… Laptop. Hey, maybe it will be known as the One Laptop Per Person.
Out of Business- COMPUSA
Wednesday, December 12th, 2007I always thought their products were over priced and wondered how they survived. I guess I was right about their retail and should have foreseen the demise of a decent size company. When I’m out looking for something that I need, may it be memory, game or a USB device, I would compare the prices I found from a variety of retailers. COMPUSA has never seemed to have a good deal. They would have the products I’m looking for; but never at the right price. Throughout the years, I can’t remember buying anything from them. About 10 years ago (around 1997), a personal colleague of mine purchased an AMD based PC from them, for around $2500.00. At the time, it was a top of the line machine and the price was average. We spent a week window shopping before he committed himself to a purchase.
From the history of the company,it’s safe to believe, others share my view on them. They did downside throughout the years and in February of 2007, I remember the announcement of their first major shutdown. COMPUSA went on to destroy most of their stores and now the new owners, “Gordon Brothers investment bank” has claimed they are permanently closing up shop (acquired on December 7th, 2007 and announcement the decision on December 10th, 2007). The smart move was keeping the stores open through xmas. Although, I don’t see any deals coming out of this until a few days before official shutdown. Then we shall experience liquidation and unwarranted products.
If you happen to acquire anything from COMPUSA within the month and you require a respectable warranty; look for it through the manufacture. Good night for now and good bye COMPUSA.
